When It Paid to be in Church!

Did you hear about the time they passed the offering plate twice? The first time was to put money into the offering plate. The second was to take money out!

Why in the world was that done? The $2,000 that was taken “OUT” of the plates was in memory of Ruth Guttromsom. The sermon dealt with the parable of the talents or the opportunities God gives us to make a difference. Those who were willing and able to seize the opportunity took a $20 bill thereby accepting the challenge to multiply it.

It has been interesting and sometimes entertaining to hear the different ideas people have come up with to make their money work. In the next few weeks, you will have the chance(s) to support people in their efforts: whether it be purchasing Mother’s Day corsages, taking Mom out to lunch on the 6th by staying after church for burgers, or numerous other ways.

It all culminates on Mother’s Day as the original $20’s plus their increase will be received in a special way. This project, in memory of Ruth, has been designated towards insurance for the church. Even if you missed the “Money Sunday,” you can still be part of the fun.
